Hello,
Well we use TAO, JackORB, MICO and Orbix for a real time control
system. We have the system running independently of our EPICS stuff
but within some of my software the CORBA and EPICS are just now
beginning to interact.
I like seem like the MICO GNU orb because it is small and easy
to compile. I use it with C++ and TCL code now. Also we use
Jack ORB with JAVA GUI code and it seems to work well.
However our real time system uses the ACE/TAO package which is
large and involved to build. It does have advantages like
multi-threading and MACROs but for me it seems like using
MICO is just fine on the Solaris and Linux boxes. Oh yes
the ACE/TAO runs on VxWorks and I do not think MICO has been
ports.
I hope this helps.
