There are several Universe drivers available, but I've not used any of
them yet so I can't comment directly. I have linux running on an
MVME2100, but no VME interface for it yet. This page from CERN gives the
most comprehensive list of drivers that I've seen:

You might want to look at the rest of the report that page comes from too
(Top button and scroll down), or at least the Appendix on Bus Error
handling - it sounds like this might cause a problem on x86 boards without
some kernel hacking.
