All of the IOC stuff listed above (and the sequencer too) should work
fine on linux with 3.14-beta1.  I've even successfully run the GPIB/LAN
adapter driver from a Linux IOC application.  I use medm, which seems to
work for the limited amount of stuff I've tried, but I've not tried dm.

How do you plan to communicate with the hardware?  Linux allows
user-level in/out instructions which makes basic device access very
simple.  You need only supply a setuid-root wrapper around your
application to gain access to the range of I/O ports you need.
