FYI & my 2 cents,

The Java language does not have unsigned integer types, so the
CDEV java client library automatically promotes unsigned types
coming from a C++ server to the next larger integer type if one
exists  (I suggest that there is no real use for a UINT64).
The CLIP prototocol does support unsigned types, which
can be used to conserve bandwidth, but I think conserving memory
on the client is not important for control system applications
(at $1/MB who cares?).
