The E2050A GPIB/LAN adapter supports VXI-11 Protocol Spec., which describes the
communication between measurement devices via RPC-Calls. The document contains a
RPCL (RPC Language) protocol description, which you can use to generate client
and server C-code with rpcgen. I will send it to you (it's not much code, but
too
long for the tech-talk list), together with a small demo application from
Benjamin Franksen. He built the EPICS-driver around this.
