I propose that the SPC_NOMOD restriction be removed from the VAL field of
the mbbiDirectRecord.  A few years ago I made this change locally to
mbbiDirectRecord.dbd,  but re-discovered this limitation while upgrading to
R3.13.2  .

Other 'input' records don't have this restriction.
