The CLS (my previous employer) is using Linux and R3.14, however Linux
is limited to the software development machines and the OPIs. RTEMS is
used on the IOCs. I do know that the example IOC application runs on
Linux, though. Many extensions (MEDM, DM2K, SDDS, Ezca, ca-tcl) are
running just fine on R3.14/Linux.
What devices will you be accessing from your Linux IOCs? I know that
the LAN/GPIB driver won't work on Linux because the RPC library on Linux
is not thread-safe.
If it's just a hardware issue that's causing you to look at Linux for
your IOCs you may be interested to know that I've run the R3.14 example
IOC application on RTEMS on a PC-clone.
