The Joint Astronomy Centre, situated in Hilo, Hawaii, is currently looking
for a manager of its Instrument and Telescope Software Group. The group's
primary purpose is the control of state-of-the-art hardware and
instrumentation, with all new hardware control development taking place in
a VxWorks environment, mostly using the EPICS real-time database. Overall
control and sequencing of subsystems is done on Solaris or Linux
workstations.
This post presents an exciting opportunity to participate in cutting edge
astronomy developing software for two of the world's major telescopes,
working in a relaxed, non-commercial environment full of motivated
individuals.
Further information, including application procedures, can be found on the
web at http://www.jach.hawaii.edu/jobs or you may contact the Head of
Software and Computing Services, Nick Rees at (808) 969-6547; email:
