                                  PROGRAMMER / SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT

TRIUMF, Canada's national facility for particle and nuclear physics, has
an immediate opening for a Systems Manager/Programmer who will work with
real-time computer control systems.    Responsibilities will include
software development, commissioning, maintenance, and systems and
network management.

The position will require the incumbent to be knowledgeable in  3 or
more of the following areas: 
C++, Fortran, Perl, HTML or Java; open VMS/UNIX/WNT/Windows98 or vxWorks
operating systems; embedded systems; network protocols and management;
standards of digital interfacing; graphical user interface (X
windows/Motif); relational database systems; and the EPICS control
system toolkit. 

The successful applicant will have a degree in computer science or
electrical engineering, coupled with several years experience in
application programming in C in a technical real-time environment. 
Applicants should be familiar with the application of software
engineering principles to real-time problems, and the maintenance of
large, computer programs, systems and networks.  Excellent interpersonal
and communication skills are a must as the position collaborates with
physicists, engineers, technicians, and to some extent, with scientific
researchers.  Previous experience in a production environment will be
considered an asset.
