The Delta Tau PMAC is one of the newest members of the PMAC family of
products. There have been many reports of "quirky" behavior in the early
boards, but the latest firmware versions for the Turbo have resolved
virtually all the early concerns. The Delta Tau products have always
outperformed the Galil. I suggest giving the Turbo a fresh look. We have
been applying the Turbo to a lot of various laser applications lately and
the stability we get from the 1/T interpolation combined with 63us servo
cycle update time cannot be equaled by anything else on the market. We would
be happy to help resolve whatever issues you are having.

Hello,

We have been using Delta Tau PMAC motor controller boards and
EPICS to control Newport 850f motors. The new Turbo PMAC
boards have been giving us various problems so we are starting
to consider other hardware products.

I looked into Galil VME controller boards but it only will
control 4 motors. Nominally we need a solution that can
control 8 or more motors per VME board. And the VME board
should be supported via EPICS device support.

How are people in the EPICS community doing this now. Is
anyone else using the Newport 850f motors besides JPL and
Keck Observatory.

All responses are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Len
