I most strongly support this. I have used Capfast for some projects but
it is a horrible thing as regards usability. I have thought about this
for a long time and evaluated every open source schematic design tool I
could lay my hands on but found none which met my requirements. I will
take a look at this tkGate thing.

Dct and text file editing may be ok for simple database templates with
only a handfull of records, such as to control power supplies or
similar, straight forward devices. But as soon as you want to make
something complex, involving a lot of links between record fields, this
method is no longer appropriate.

BTW, add to the job list:
  * In the long run, create a conversion tool for capfast schematics

so we can port capfast stuff to the new tool.
