I have written GPIB device support for the 8732 picomotor driver
using the IP-488 interface. We have used it successfully for the past
2 years to control >20 motors, most of which are moved quite frequently
when
running beam. The only problems experienced were an occasional "runaway"
picomotor (keeps going even though you only command a few steps)
and conflict with OMS driven steppermotors (solved by putting them on
a separate ioc). Fixes were made by New Focus for the runaway
problem; it now seems to be confined to one particular channel,
so this may be simply a bad hardware channel. We switched
channels, but haven't had enough experience yet to know if this
solves the problem.
