today we observed a strange problem with a third party EPICS system. The IOC has booted without errors, you can rlogin to the ioc, you can list the channels with dbl, but none of the channels is accessible via channel access. Neither from the boot PC nor from a second PC that works fine in our setup. The message from the command caget is the same on both PCs: link:{Search Pend-IO: } ALIRF-A1:CLEAR # ALIRF-A1:CLEAR NOT FOUNDThe two PCs and the IOC are connected in a stand-allone network. Both PC are running linux, the boot PC SuSE 6.1 and the other PC Redhat 5.2. The IOC is a PowerPC mv2306. The company claims that everything worked fine with another PC running SuSE 6.0 before they shipped everything to the SLS. They tested it on the last day before shipping and the new PC didn't worked there from the start while the SuSE 6.0 worked fine. They didn't had time left to solve it then and have to solve it here now. We were running the debug programm tcpdump -i eth0 -vv with the output: [...] linboot.ioc.1066 > 192.168.255.255.5064: udp 32 (ttl 64, id [...])for several times after a caget command. "linboot" is the boot PC and 192.168.10.15 is the IP address of the IOC, 192.168.10.200 the address of the boot PC (.201 of the second one). The IOC doesn't respond to that, just sending periodically [...] iocLin.ioc.1031 > 192.168.10.255.5065: udp 16 (ttl 30, id [...])Running spy on the IOC says that it is 98% idle. I'm sorry about the small amount of information I can give. Any guess is welcome, because we tried for several hours today to find the source of the problem and have no clue left. - Andreas -- Andreas Luedeke, Controls Group, Swiss-Light-Source, PSI mailto:[email protected], tel:+41-(0)56-310-4002, fax:-3351
