Subject: FrameGrabber For VME/PMC VxWorks/EPICS use

Hello all,

I am interested if anyone in the EPICS community is utilizing a
current technology frame grabber board with EPICS/VxWorks. The
board must be either PMC, that is a PCI doughter card which
plugs into, in our case, the VME Motorola MVME2307 PPC SBC. Or
it can also be a stand alone frame grabber which connects
directly to a VME bus.

What we actually want is something low cost which does not
have image processing or DSP capability. All we need to do
is grab a monochrome NTSC frame into CPU memory.

We were trying to use a Raster Graphics RG-101 PMC module for
this but cannot get it to capture a frame correctly. The board
works great for overlaying graphics onto live video. Apparently
the guy who supported the software for the board has left Raster
Graphics and they are not interested in resolving this issue so
I am looking for other recommendations. Although I have found
a few possibilities, none really impress me. This is such a simple
thing someone in the EPICS world must have a recommendation for
hardware/software that can solve this.

Any replies would be appreciated. If I receive more then a few
replies I would be happy to post a summary of my finding to this
list if that is of interest.

Oh yes, I don't need a board necessarily supported under EPICS.
If I can find something that works I will develop device/driver
support myself.

Thanks in advance,

Leonard J. Reder
