In KEKB, we use:
A) A conslole port of IOC is connected to the terminal server from Cisco 
systems, Cisco 2500 series. Terminal server assigns IP address to each 
serial port so you can telnet to these IP address directly. 

B) a VME system monitor board produced by Mitsubishi Electric 
coorporation(MELCO). It can monitor create voltage and has 6 digital inputs
to monitor status of the crate. It can also reset VME backplane. A micro 
computer with simple command interpreter accepts a command from its serial 
port. 
We connect this serial port to the therminal server mentined above.
One of our programmers wrote simple Python script to reset VME crate using
this board.
