Hi,
Thanks to everyone who responded to my initial query on Linux builds.
Two of the responses did the trick. I have succesfully built EPICS base
R3.13.1 on a Linux host for mv162 (68k) and mv2603 (ppc). The host
builds are done with the gcc compiler. I briefly tested the builds
using the exampleApp.
William Lupton reminded me to override general vxworks architecture
configuration in CONFIG.Vx with specific architecture configurations in
CONFIG.Vx.$(T_A). The other piece of information came from Janet
Anderson. I had to change the WIND_HOST_TYPE from Linux to
i386-linux2.
The ppc build failed on the first pass. The problem was in
base/src/rsrv/camessage.c. The problem occured when using variable
length argument lists. Our vxworks guru here at Fermilab suggested that
I put the vxworks header file first. This solved the problem.
