Dear all,

And *another* EPICS-based control system has come on-line!

Peregrine's message reminded me.  I can now officially announce that the
National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) has achieved first plasma,  using
EPICS as its central control system.   On February 12th  our experimental
fusion device achieved the DOE's milestone of a 50 kiloamp plasma,  10 weeks
ahead of schedule.  We have since attained 300 kiloamps and are now
upgrading the machine's internal components for 1 megamp operation.  Of
course,  we are continuing to expand and improve our control system.

I wish to thank the EPICS community for their excellent support as we
brought our lab's first system online.
