Dear all,
Another EPICS-based control system has come on-line!
On Tuesday, 16 March 1999, about 6 until 6:45PM MST the Low Energy
Demonstration Accelerator (LEDA) accelerated a proton beam for the first
time! The 6.7 MeV RFQ was operated at about 93% of design field and at
about 5 to 10 ma (300 microsecond pulse) input with about 3 to 5 ma.
output. The transmission with out ANY adjustments to steering, etc. was a
respectable ~50%. This will obviously increase as the beam is matched to
the RFQ. LEDA will be operating with a 100 ma CW beam.
