Hi.
Some participants of the European EPICS Meeting last week got to see the
Tcl/Tk based CVS interface we use (public domain) and strongly suggested
this to be put into the EPICS unbundled area. Which I did.
tkCVS supports most of the CVS functions in a very convenient, easy-to-use
way. Even complicated operations (like merging the differences of any two
versions into the main trunk) can be called by clicking a button.
tkCVS calls tkdiff to display differences between versions. tkdiff uses a
dual display and color highlighting to mark differing sections. It may be
used independently from tkCVS as a graphical diff utility.
I put together some screen shots to give an impression of what using
tkCVS/tkdiff feels like. Visit http://www.bessy.de/control/Soft/tkCVS/ to
have a look.
You will definitely like these tools. They save a _lot_ of time. Even
unexperienced unix users will be able to use CVS for revision control.
tkCVS/tkdiff should work with virtually any Tcl/Tk version.
It is available from the APS EPICS repository as epics/unbundled/tkCVS
(module tkCVS).
Hope this helps,
Ralph
