The SHFT field is filled in by the device support layer automatically. 
In your database you should just set the INP field to give the Card and
Signal number (or whatever address specification is used by your
particular device) of the lowest bit used, and set NOBT to the number of
bits to read.  The same applies to the other binary record types.
