Dear EPICS tech-talk,
we work for the PHENIX experiment at Brookhaven and have the following
plan for our low voltage power supply. If someone has already done something
similar, we would be eager to hear comments/hints/caveats....
For the low voltage power control and monitoring, we contemplate
using Adventech PLC's, which are cheap little boxes with
small modular plugins that speak ASCII strings on an RS485 multi-drop
network. We would like to control them from EPICS - our idea was
to use an RS485 card (such as IP-OctalPlus-485 from SBS Greenspring?),
which we run from a MVME162 or 167. Is anyone aware of suitable
EPICS drivers?
Thanks a lot and best regards
