This leads to one possible conclusion, namely that a display object
with alarm status color attributes should not be green when all is
well. Rather, it should take on the foreground color (which, of course,
could be green). I prefer a display that is primarily shades of grey
when no alarms are present. The presence of any bright color quickly
draws the attention of the operator. Other subtle color variations may
be used to indicate special function categories without masking the
bright alarm colors.
