Hi All:
We are considering the purchase of a VME Bus Analyzer and are seeking
comments from the EPICS/VxWorks community regarding our two finalists.
The contenders are Vmetro's VBT325C and Silicon Control's VME-310.
We have had an opportunity to evaluate each in terms of ease of use (both
have nice GUIs). Our considerations
(besides cost and reliability, of course) are as follows:
-
Users will include Instrumentation Engineers (both hardware & software)
as well as technicians.
-
Generally, we don't build our own boards.
-
We do debug boards that we have made minor modifications to.
-
We do test suspected 'bad boards' to the extent that we are able, to determine
whether the board can be fixed in-house or not.
-
Evaluating an I/O board sans processor, is definitely desirable.
-
Automated testing (e.g. during burn-in) is highly desirable.
All comments are expressly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
