I think you will get CAN interface cards for most common PLC systems.
As well Allen-Bradley as Honeywell use CAN as an internal bus for (at least
some of) their PLC systems.
CAN does not come with a fixed OSI level 7 protocol: Allen-Bradley uses
"Open Device Net", Honeywell defined the "Small Distributed Systems"
protocol, Europe relies more and more on "CANopen/CAL". There's a growing
number of industrial applications for each of those.
BESSY II uses Siemens S5 PLCs for RF power amp control. These PLCs are
connected via a CAN interface card from KAT, but esd also supplies a CAN
interface to the S5. The main difference is in the PLC programming
paradigm: With the first card the PLC sees the CAN bus as a serial line,
whereas the latter gives you transparent CAN access to PLC variables.
