It may not affect very many EPICS users but please be
aware that if you are using a GPS based system for timing
or positioning purposes then you will need to check
whether it will be able to cope with the '1999 GPS
rollover'. This is independent of year 2000
problems, but will probably break many systems during
August 1999 if left uncorrected. The problem is due
to the week numbering field in the GPS date format
being only 10 bits wide.
Specifically, users of Bancomm GPS based VME cards
(eg bc637) using a built-in GPS receiver will need
an upgrade if the board is more then ~2 years old,
