Just last week I was telling a group that was considering using EPICS
that the EPICS documentation was plentiful, but there was really no
guide to get through it. Over the weekend, I was looking through some 
of the WWW pages that have been put up regarding EPICS and came across
a very nice guide. Steve Lewis is maintaining a page at:

Steve warns that it is geared toward 3.12.2 and that it covers those clients
that he uses in his BaBar Detector Collaboration.

If you are just starting out, this may be of some help.
