Hello All,
There is an 80 character limit on EPICS environment
variables in EPICS 3.12.2. This limit has been removed
in recent beta releases of EPICS 3.13.
For what its worth, I just discovered that
the IP address parser will also accept hexadecimal
so "0x80a520ff" results in the same IP address as
"128.165.32.255" while requiring only 10 characters
(not 14 characters). Perhaps this will assist those of you
that have hit the 80 character limit with
EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST in 3.12.2?
It also appears that the limit on an EPICS_CA_ADDR_LIST
values obtained from getenv() (from UNIX setenv/vxWorks putenv())
can be removed by a small patch to 3.12.2 if I do not try to remove the
limit for EPICS build compiled in values and I do not address
string length limits on any of the other EPICS environment variables.
If there is interest I will add the above patch to 3.12.2
Jeff
