In particular, we're mapping out the organization of sampled data in memory.
The data organization would be more compressed if we didn't support the POSIX
implementation of time, with a granularity of 1 nanosecond. We would like to
make the assumption that a granularity of 1 microsecond would be sufficient for
archiving purposes. Is this an assumption that would present problems for
other users of the archiving system?
