I dont think that these symbols are referenced by the EPICS
distribution. The "-ldl" option to ld can be used to link with these
functions.

I suspect that this is related to (in order of decreasing likelyhood):
o differences in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable
o ld command line options
o acc command line options 
o differences in compiler installation

Here is what I have LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to:

% echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/usr/X11/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/openwin/lib:/usr/motif/lib
