Hi,
At IASA we are planning to use some Linux-boxes (i86 based)
along with the SUN workstations, especially as Operator
Interfaces (running medm, alh, etc.)
So we are interested in the status of EPICS "compatibility"
with Linux.
Does EPICS BASE (R3.12.2, or more recent) compile under Linux?
Which extension products currently compile and run under Linux,
without major problems ?
(Given, of course, that you have purchased some commercial Motif
implementation, e.g. Red-Hat's Motif.)
Are there any statically linked versions of MEDM, alh,
and/or other extensions available, that we could try-out?
I looked but found nothing in the APS epics-distribution WWW server.
We are especially concerned about these subjects, because minor
operating systems compatibility issues are things we could possibly take
care of, but what about more esoteric problems like endianness?
Thanks,
Nick Patavalis
