See the CA ref manual for info on multi-subnet configuration of CA.
The CA gateway could also be used if you need a transparent firewall 
between the experiment and controls portions of your system. The
CA gateway can be configured so that PVs on the controls subnet
become virtual PVs on the experimenter's subnet.
