No read the Record Reference Manual. It has a command field.
The Read command can be issued without the need to reset and restart.

General Discussion.

Are you aware that there is EPICS APS WWW Document describing the mizar
support?
Even with this it is difficult to decide how to use the support.
The pulseXXX support was written to take advantage of the many mizar
features.
You will have to become familiar with the mizar manual and also with the
AMD9514 manual. It is the 9514 chip which makes the mizar so flexable
but also makes it quite hard to understand.
Also dont forget to read the pulseWWW documentation in the Record
Reference Manual.
