Of course, if all you wanted to do was to talk to the SLC-500 you could
have bypassed all that and talked to it directly via its built in
serial port and Jeff Hill's AB DF1 driver. The only catch is that you
have to have s similar bit of ladder logic to interface the normal
SLC-500 files to the SLC-500 file 9 - the common interface file (CIF).
I think that would be the recommended route nowdays for someone
starting with a clean sheet - it works fine for me. (I think APS
started their design before Jeff's driver was written.)
