Dear all,

SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR2 appear to be standard Posix signals. However, I
think that SIGHUP is often used in the way that the IOC log server now
uses it, e.g. syslogd and inetd both re-read their configuration files
when they receive a SIGHUP. In the IOC log server case, it re-executes
the shell command that derives the name of the directory into which to
write the log file.

Perhaps I should explain that the motivation behind this change was to
allow an on-the-fly switch of log file directory without having to stop
and restart the server. We have it running all the time and have a cron
job which sends it the signal at a fixed time each day. This allows us
to implement our policy of organizing log files in a /xxxxx/yy/mm/dd
directory structure.

William

PS, The macro library is nearly ready for distribution...
