Hi Ralph
If you want to try to use dbt and db2capsym tools that we are developing here I can let you have a copy.  They
are very much alpha versions, but they do work.  I have used them on the scan
record, the pid record and the wait record.  dbst will make the edb.def addition that
you need for the record and db2capsym will make the symbol.  It makes a large symbol
that you will probably want to edit with xsymed, but it saves time over doing it by hand.
What kind of computer are you using.  I have built them for both solaris and sun4, but haven't
tried with hp computers.  The slides for the talk I gave at the collaboration meeting are
available from the lanl epics home page on www at

entitled "dbt, db2capsym, e2db -- static database and Capfast tools (slides, PostScript)."
We are planning to change the name from dbt to dbst for dbstatic library tool.
I don't have the code in our anonymous ftp site yet, but will put it there within
the next couple of days if people are interested.
