base/rec should not be checked into CVS at all - it is recreated
every time you run gmake inside base/src/ascii. Your old base/rec
directory is renamed base/rec.bak, and a new directory is created to
hold the newly created *Record.h files. base/rec isn't the only
directory which is created at compile-time; it should be treated just
like the base/bin and base/lib directories.
