Unfortunately it *has* been a real problem for this Capfast 
user - its taken quite a lot of effort to track down all the 
default PP links that were assumed in our old DCT generated 
database.

I'm not sure which Capfast EPICS symbol library is the one 
used at LANL - is it the one distributed with EPICS or by
Phase3 (or neither)?

Another added complication that has been exposed by our
changing to using a new e2sr (V2.1.3) is that the typ() 
port property defined in the symbol library for many 
fields is wrongly set to "val". e2sr now complains 
at great length about this. I think this means that the 
pproc() property is ineffective for these links. In these
cases I can only force links to be PP by setting pproc() to
be PP *and* also changing the typ() property for the 
link to "path".
