Andy Foster and I have just successfully tested my tcp terminal server 
based rs232 software.  Andy ran an epics database in Cambridge which 
controlled a temperature scanner (Lakeshore 208) in Edinburgh, 400 miles 
away!  

The scanner's serial interface is connected to a terminal server which 
allows the Cambridge data base to connected to it and pass ascii strings 
back and forth.  

Next week we will try the same from Canada.
