I thought I responded to this one already.  There has been a HUGE amount of
inquiry into the IP-488 lately.  Too bad we don't get paid by the copy for the
code we write, eh?

What tim says is true, the stuff I worked on will run on HiDEOS.  The source
is pretty simple and can be used to show someone how to write an EPICS version
(that will probably chew up some CPU if it is used alot.)  I sort-a wanted
to port it myself but have no local demand for it, so it is pretty low on the
list right now.  If someone else wants to do one, I'd be glad to help you
understand that nasty controller chip if my code is not self-explanitory ;-)

Tim mentions "we haven't tried interrupts"  I assume he speaketh of SRQs... the
IP support is loaded with interrupt handling logic... VME interrupts that is.
With respect to SRQ interrupts... there aint no support for it in the code I
wrote... because the code in EPICS for it is crappy... in fact the EPICS code
for SRQs (yah, it was all my doing as far as I am aware of, feel free to blame 
me... I'll probably sigh and ignore you) is naturally anti-SRQ because the 
SRQ code was an afterthought... and SRQs don't fit well into our GPIB model.

If you need them on the HiDEOS IP-488 driver, let me know.  I see no reason
why I could not add them if anyone actually cares.  At the moment it is 
something else low on the list.
