    Folks,

As the VMS platform developer for EPICS I will be releasing R3.12.2 as soon as
the APS finalizes the mechanism to fetch releases conveniently using the Web.

The VMS distribution will require sites to have 2 public domain utilities:

    - UNZIP  (to decompress the distribution)
    - MMK    (Madgoat Make, a "make" like utility which is compatible with
                DEC's MMS)

Both of these are available from ftp://ftp.wku.edu/madgoat/

The distribution will contain the source and AXP binaries for the following:

    config: VMS specific .COM, .OPT and .MMS files
    startup: VMS specific .COM files
    base:  libCom (most of it), and libca
    extensions: ca, ezca, ezcaIDL, CaWave

The distribution should work on both VAX and AXP platforms, and on mixed-mode
clusters where a common directory tree holds the source and binaries for both
architectures.

If there are other packages in base or extensions which users would like to
have included and which are known to build with minimal hassle I will be happy
to include them as well.
