Although C++ will certainly dominate at some future point, EPICS is
fundamentally a C-based toolkit right now. All of your points are
well taken, however, I would prefer to get a solid, C-based product
out the door, then assess the timing of putting an additional, C++
API out.
I am guessing that issues of platform compatibility will take a while,
after a first pass with R3.12.2 on Solaris...
