Hi William,
When I moved arr (the tck/tk archiver retriever) into EPICS for solaris,
I ran into a similar problem needing routines that used to be in 
libCom for 3.11 but were restricted to ar in 3.12.
I created a library called arAccessLib that had all of those components
of ar which used to be in libCom and are not in syd.  Janet has put
it in the newer 3.12.xx Makefiles for extensions/src/ar/ar. The library gets
installed in extensions/lib.  When your AR_cmd gets integrated back with
epics, you should be able to obtain ezsSockSubr from that library.
