We have been using the Heurikon Nitro60 at Los Alamos for about six months with
excellent results. We have also seen the sysfail problem, but standard procedure
here is to cut the trace on boards which do obey the specs. We have no trouble
with the BSP (our vxWorks is supplied by Wind River). I have used it with most
A16 and A24 I/O boards we are currently using with few glitches. For me, it was
an exceptionally easy port. The only "features" we have found disagreable to
date are:
1) For slave DMA access to A24 space, only 2Mb of local RAM is mappable.
Heurikon claims they can fix this. Slave access to A32 space does not
have this problem.
2) If the console serial port is connected to an inactive (but powered
up) port, the boot process will hang. This occurrs most frequently
with a workstation connected but no terminal emulator running.
3) The BSP as supplied by Heurikon reserves the first 32Mb of extended
address space for on board resources regardless of how much RAM is
actually there. We have a few A32 boards whose base addresses had to
be moved.
