You are not the only one.  Regrettably, this artificial limit has nothing to do
with BURT.  BURT has no internal limits and (hopefully) never will.  The problem
you cite is related to the buffer allocation size that Channel Access uses.

I believe this buffer size issue is one of the canidates for change in CA version 4.
Jeff Hill is the guy you should be talking to about removing the dependancy on the
static buffer size(s).

FYI --
There is supposedly a macro (what a shock!) in the CA header files somewhere that
you can change and rebuild everything to use a larger buffer allocation... if that
suits your needs.  Again Jeff is the guy for the details.  It should not coma as
any suprise that the current buffer size is set to 16K [= ~2000 * sizeof(int).]
