Hello, Andy,

Dm does not currently support the feature you describe.  The value in the 
text entry is sent directly to the associated channel.  If you know 
before running the display what the appended text would be, there would 
be a fairly simple addition to dm that could meet your needs if I'm 
understanding them correctly .  I'd be happy to discuss that with you 
if you're interested.  The method you described using a script or "C"
program could also be implemented to provide a conversion before sending
the text, but there is currently nothing in place to support this directly.
