This appears to be a NEW bug.  ALS is running production 3.11 code that
works fine that is broken by the Beta DOL bug.  It will have to be twisted
with a work-around to run on this Beta.  We can of course do this - the
real question is how bug-free do we make EPICS releases?  If we do
release I propose that we incorporate a 'known bugs and work-arounds'
into the root directory readme or equivalent.

It might be easier to fix this problem than document it and workarounds.

Are there any other new 'bugs' that require existing programs to be twisted
to work?  I hope there is nothing else like that in the current beta.
