Thanks, first, for looking at this.

Ooops...Yep the HSCN writes to the stringout everytime the record
gets processed. But you see the magRec must trigger the stringout
or better said, only the magRec knows when it should changes its
scan period. 

 I attempted to change the scan field internally in the record support
 but got errors.( I tried this first a looong time ago and don't remember
 the errors. Should I attempt it again to see what they were? )
