Over at BESSRC, we are also intested in the porting of Channel Access to
Linux - if for no other reason than Linux is likely to be the platform of
choice for people using SPEC. And while I can not claim to be a great SPEC
fan, it is rather hard to beat the fact that all you need to do is give
Gerry a few thousand bucks, and you can have working software by this afternoon.
Last time I looked, he supported all 'normal' Camac hardware, as well as the
'default' Aps VME devices. All you have to do is pick up one of his
supported controller cards . . .
Anyway . . . we have not started any work on it (CA) yet . . . we have been
waiting for the 'official' release of R3.12 . . . which is supposed to be
widely available 'real soon now'.
