For what it is worth, I think that Bob's recommendations represent a
reasonable minimal approach. Leaving the doors unlocked is temptation for
some. Furthermore, if a bad guy really wants to break into our systems, he
will probably be successful if he is clever enough and he want to invest
enough time. If the intruder gets root, we are potentially screwed no matter
what we do about EPICS security. Yes, we can do more, we can do a lot more,
but as many have pointed out, these efforts require continued effort. I am
one who feels that encryption routines are at least partly ment to enthuse
crackers. I also suspect that it might be for the best if mushrooms sprouted
from the freeways. But my advise these days is to `Watch your back Jack'.
Things have changed from the old days and it looks like it is getting worse.
