Jim Stevens had trouble using the AVME9440 in an IOC with the AB6008 Scanner,
and so will everyone else.
The 9440 powers up holding the SYSFAIL* line active until it is told to
release it (which occurs when the module is initialized). Meanwhile, the Allen
Bradley scanner ALWAYS RETURNS DATA of ZERO when you read it's registers and
SYSFAIL* is active (don't ask me why !). So, the Allen Bradley scanner fails
to initialize properly when a 9440 is installed.
We had this problem with the GPIB-1014 board along time ago. By carefully
placing "drvGpib" ahead of "drvAb" in drvSup.ascii, one can ensure that the
1014 was initialized prior to the Allen Bradley.
Since the 9440 only has device support (no driver), there doesn't appear to
be a way of getting it initialized prior to the Allen Bradley board (which
implies more work for Greg :) In the mean time, put the following command
in your startup file prior to iocInit ...
# Turn off SYSFAIL* on the 9440, if present
vxMemProbe(0xffff2881,1,1,&(mydata = (char)0x01))
Of course if you have multiple 9440's you will need multiple commands.
